See You This Saturday at the SUPER SCI-FI BOOK SALE!

MONSFFA Book Sale volunteers successful!

On an early Saturday morning, 12-15 MONSFFA members and friends show up to prepare for the club’s Annual Book Sale. Setting up tables, opening boxes stuffed with books, sorting the book by author, type of cover, subject matter in certain cases. Within a couple of hours all the books were ready for sale.

At noon we opened the doors to the public…there was a waiting line of about 10 people. Within an hour the room was packed with avid readers seeking their favourite authors. Thanks to the volunteers this was a successful book sale for MONSFFA.

Book sale a huge success!

Yesterday’s SF/F book sale was a huge success!!We sold hundreds of books; unbelievably, I only had to bring home one car load of boxes.

The room was so crowded with shoppers, in spite of the Santa Claus parade and various construction road blocks, that we had traffic problems of our own in the narrow aisles.  Some pictures of the set up and the shopping have been uploaded to our facebook event page. (Thank you, Fern!) https://www.facebook.com/events/1966007810153028/?active_tab=discussion

I want to send out a huge thank you to all the folks who helped set up the tables, unload cars, and stayed to help pack up after the sale. We couldn’t do it without you!

Saturday, November 17, is the date of our next downtown meeting; read all about it in this issue of Impulse! We’re hosting our annual sci-fi used book sale, which is a fund-raiser for the club, and a wonderful opportunity to pick up some great reading material for the holidays, perhaps as gifts, for incredibly bargain-basement prices! Check out the details in this issue of Impulse!

Also, next month, on Saturday, the 8th, we’re hosting our yearly Christmas party, this time a festive lunch at the downtown Baton Rouge restaurant near the Bell Centre. Club members, family and friends are welcome! Do join us for a little seasonal celebration! Again, read all about it in this month’s Impulse.

Last month, some of you opted to re-up with MonSFFA, and we’re pleased to welcome you back! Note that our annual membership fee remains only $25 per individual, as it has for many years, now!
