Leggings for Readers!

Need stockings this winter?middleearthleggings_0

“What’s cooler than legs encased in coziness? Legs encased in bookish coziness. We’ve rounded up some awesome pieces…”

Indeed they have! comicbookleggingsThere are maps of Middle Earth and Westeros,  Super Heroes, quotations, and lots more. Have a look: http://www.quirkbooks.com/post/literary-looks-bookish-tights-and-leggings

But really over the top, IMO, are these:

GRRM 2
GRRM 3Wondering what GRRM thought of these? Me, too, so went looking, and found these comments on his “Not a Blog”
Stranger Than Strange
Every time I think my life could not possibly get any weirder, it does:

I can think a dozen things to say about those leggings, all of which would get me into deep, deep trouble, so I had better just scratch my head and say, “No, really? This must be a joke.”

I don’t think I get any money off these. But who the hell knows at this point?

Doctor Who Spin Off

BBC Three today announces Class – a new 8 x 45 minute Doctor Who spin off from the acclaimed YA author, Patrick Ness. Class is a YA series set in contemporary London. Incredible dangers are breaking through the walls of time and space, and with darkness coming, London is unprotected. With all the action, heart and adrenalin of the best YA fiction (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Hunger Games), this is Coal Hill School and Doctor Who like you’ve never seen them before.

Steven Moffat says, “No one has documented the dark and exhilarating world of the teenager like Patrick Ness, and now we’re bringing his brilliant story-telling into Doctor Who. This is growing up in modern Britain – but with monsters!”

Ask Lovecraft — Sad Puppies explained

This is the best ever explanation of the Sad / Rabid Puppies and the Hugo Awards.  🙂

Ask Lovecraft

A wonderful series of funny one-man presentations in which H.P. Lovecraft  (Leeman Kessler) answers questions, ponders the mysteries of life, the universe and everything,  and sometimes gives advice. The segments are short,  and appear 3X a week, so do take the time to enjoy several.

Here’s one to get you started:

And then you can go on to learn Lovecraft’s thoughts on just about anything his audience tosses out to him.  His musings on Terry Pratchett and Discword is hysterical.  And a recent one of the Sad Puppies had me all but rolling on the floor.

Riftworld Chronicles

The CBC has a webseries called Riftworld Chronicles. I’ve watched the first three episodes, and found them quite enjoyable  in a light sort of way. Keith, the lady has long locks of hair that shine red, and ladies, take note:  “OMG arms!” (in the 2nd episode.) Annoyingly, the same ad at the start of every episode.

The third episode is hilarious, until the very end, when an ambulance has to be called.  I think I’m getting hooked, I have to leave you now to find out what happens next.
