This has been an excellent month and a half for N3F zine publishing. You hold in your hands, or see on your screen, the latest issue of The National Fantasy Fan. N’APA 237 will be sent via email with this issue of TNFF. Jefferson Swycaffer is now the lead person at N’APA. Eldritch Science for late Fall 2018 went out a few weeks ago, with George Phillies assembling the issue. Ionisphere 13 as edited by John Thiel went out in early October. Tightbeam is momentarily appearing on a monthly schedule, with issues edited by Jon Swartz and George Phillies going out in September and October. Origin 9 as prepared by John Thiel will be appearing with this issue. Last, but hardly least, Jessi Silver has given us the first issue of the revived Mangaverse.

The National Irish Science Fiction Film Festival and Golden Blaster awards ceremony will take place in August as part of hDublin 2019 – An Irish Worldcon.

Dublin 2019, an Irish Worldcon, the 77th World Science Fiction Convention, (“Worldcon”) taking place in Dublin Ireland in August 2019, announced today that a special Hugo category for “Best Art Book” will be included in the 2019 Hugo Awards, and the Retrospective Hugo Awards for 1944.

The Hugo Awards are the leading awards for excellence in the field of science fiction and fantasy, and have been presented at Worldcons since 1953. They are voted on by members of each year’s Worldcon.

Art books formerly featured strongly in the Best Related Work Hugo Award category, and its predecessors, Best Related Book and Best Non-Fiction Book, and also in the former Hugo category Best Original Artwork. Finalists and winners included collections of works by significant figures in genre art, and annual anthologies of notable and award-winning art works.

On an early Saturday morning, 12-15 MONSFFA members and friends show up to prepare for the club’s Annual Book Sale. Setting up tables, opening boxes stuffed with books, sorting the book by author, type of cover, subject matter in certain cases. Within a couple of hours all the books were ready for sale.
