X Plus recently released a second version of the Maschinen Mensch “Maria” from the Fritz Lang Classic Metropolis. This is the seated version shown during the transformation sequence. While the kit still includes the Hel throne, but now adds the energy rings with clear supports with plugs and wiring to hookup the Futura robot. Construction of Maria starts with building an inner frame for the torso, then adding the exterior details on to it. You will need to drill out holes for the wiring connectors for the chair, helmet, chest plate, roughly eighteen as displayed. I picked up model via Culttvmanshop.com – seated version is $69.00 US or the Silver Screen standing version is currently $48.00. Also in stock are resin figures of Rotwang & Fredersen that might be in scale with the kit.
When I saw this version was being released I held off getting the standing version. Pro tips give a number of suggestions including painting the raised parts of the clear rings white with adding a phosphorescent paint. But my first thought is to try to find a way to light the rings using LEDs and frosting the raised area of the rings. Online I found HDA Modelworx (hdamodelworx.com) has COB LED Strips that also look promising.
