The awards are sponsored by the current Corflu (COR41U, to be held in Las Vegas) and the results will be announced at the banquet on Sunday March 3 2024 – membership of Corflu (or anything else) is not a requirement for voting, which is open to anyone with an interest in fanzines.

As always, the reminder that TIR should not be seen as a definitive list of what you can or cannot vote for. All votes are recorded in good faith, subject to proper categorization.

Ballots must be received by midnight PST, Saturday February 24, 2024.

Faneds (or indeed anyone at all) receiving this are encouraged to publicize the awards, redistribute TIR or indeed engage in advocacy for any favored titles/individuals as a part of promotion of the awards overall.

FAAn Awards reminder, and a Manga zine to share

Fans of Manga will enjoy the reviews in Mangaverse Mangaverse_5_1_Print

In related fanzine news, a reminder from Nic Farey that the FAAn Awards deadline is fast approaching.

This email goes out to my This Here… email list, and further distribution is of course encouraged…

Firstly, thanks to those who’ve already submitted ballots, and this is a reminder that voting closes a week from tomorrow at midnight PST March 12. Ballots must be received by that time by whatever means they are sent.

A ballot pro forma and lists of qualifying titles and individuals known to me is available here:
https://efanzines.com/TIR/index.htm

As always, the listings are not intended to be restrictive – any publication or contributor thereto from 2020 is good.

I probably should have noted previously that the use of the provided ballot form isn’t required, you can simply send an email listing your choices if you wish (as many do).

The award ceremonies will be on Zoom on Sunday March 28, and anyone who would like to be virtually present will be able to “attend”, details are here:

Awards: The latest from Hugos, Auroras, and FAAN

Nominations are open for the Hugo Awards, CSFFA is building the eligibility lists, and voting is open for the FAAn awards.

Hugos will be awarded at Discon III. https://discon3.org/whats-on/hugo-awards-wsfs/hugo-awards/

To nominate, you must be a member of Discon III or last year’s CoNZealand.

Nominations for the 2021 Hugo Awards

We are also pleased to announce that nominations for the 2021 Hugo Awards are now open and will remain open until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (PDT) on March 19, 2021. Nominations for the Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book and the Astounding Award for Best New Writer are also open.

As a reminder, DisCon III has decided to use its power under the constitution of the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS) to create a special committee category for the 2021 Hugo Awards: Best Video Game.

Aurora Awards are building the eligibility lists.

Open to all members of CSFFA. Membership is only 10$, and when you consider the voter’s package you will receive, more than worthy of 10$. You do not have to be a member to add to the eligibility lists, but if you like to read, I strongly recommend a membership. A membership will give you the right to nominate and vote, and the association will mail you works from the nominees so that you can make an informed decision.

Note that MonSFFA is eligible in the fan categories.

The FAAn Awards for fanzines are awarded at Corflu, which is in Bristol England this year. However, the awards and the business meeting will be by Zoom on the 28th of March. VOTING DEADLINE:

The sole criterion for a FAAn award vote is that work should have been published for the first time in the calendar year 2020.
Each category invites you to vote up to five of your favorites of the year. A first-place vote will be awarded a “bonus point” toward the overall total. You do NOT have to fully complete the ballot. Fill in as many (or as few) categories and slots as you are comfortable with. If you do not agree with the “first place bonus”, feel free to leave
that slot blank.
You do NOT have to be a member of Corflu or anything else for that matter. Voting is open to anyone with an interest in fanzines.
You do NOT have to have read or received any minimum number of fanzines to vote, although of course we encourage you to check out the contenders.
VOTING DEADLINE:
Ballots should be received by midnight (PDT) Friday March 12 2021

“The Incompleat Register” is published as a FAAn Award voters’ guide and should not be
considered to be a definitive list of what you can and cannot vote for. My sources are primarily

A “fanzine”, for our purposes, is defined as an immutable artifact, once published not subject
to revision or modification. The fanzine might not exist in a physical form. A pdf, for example, is
an artifact.

Thus, fanwriters, artists and loccers listed are those who have contributed to such a publication.

You might note a few surprising older names within the listings, which can be attributed to the publication of Outworlds 71.

The Incompleat Register 2020 includes the voters’ guide and ballot for the FAAn awards for work published in 2017. Since Corflu 38 in Bristol has been postponed to November 2021, the awards will be presented in an on-line ceremony on Sunday 28 March 2021.

Questions, comments are welcomed to the address in the issue.
